What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful method of psychotherapy. EMDR has helped millions people of all ages gain relief from many types of distress.
EMDR is an integration of a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral, somatic or body based approaches, psychodynamic and systems therapies. In addition, EMDR uniquely uses a form of bilateral brain stimulation, either visual, auditory, or kinesthetic, that effects a neurobiological action supporting the processing of stuck psychological attitudes and facilitating change.
I have used this standardized psychological treatment regularly in my practice for over a decade and have had very good results. EMDR is useful in calming distressing emotions, facilitating inner strength and resource awareness, and clearing blocks to the mind’s natural ability to heal.
Issues that can be successfully managed with EMDR include:
- Stress reduction
- Anxiety Disorder
- Panic Attacks
- Prolonged Grief
- Post-traumatic Stress
- Performance Enhancement
